What's New for 2013

What's New for 2013

We will continue with our change in lecture schedule to increase free time during the day:  Morning lectures will now be finished by 9am and start again at 4pm to better accommodate skiing or other activities.  We have made these changes without decreasing CME hours.

Optional Morning workshops:

This year we are adding two problem based learning discussions.  These sessions will be one hour and limited to 8 participants.  We hope these sessions generate discussion and exchange of information with fellow participants.  The session are on Tuesday morning from 9:15 to 10: 15.  Topics are:

-Rapid Sequence Intubation:  Complications and Controversy.

Drs. Ken Johnson and Clint Christensen

-Infection and Safety:  Does my behavior make a difference?

Drs. Harriet Hopf and Nathan Orgain

We are continuing the "ask the expert" workshops featuring recognized experts in the field discussing relevant clinical topics.  These workshops will be limited to 30 participants each and will run after the morning lectures for 1.5 hours.  Opportunity for interactive learning and extensive question time are some of the goals.  This years workshops are:

  • Perioperative echocardiography:  Dr. Georges Desjardins
  • Management of peripheral nerve catheters:  Dr. Jeff Swenson

Workshops are available for a fee and will provide AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM  They are available on a first come first serve basis.

We will continue text messaging as a means of asking questions during lecture sessions.  The questions texted are then presented to the speakers and audience for discussion during Q&A time.

Syllabus:  In a continuing effort to provide up to date syllabus material in an easy to use format, we will offer the syllabus online  this year with the ability to download each lecture as a PDF or a compatible file to your smart phone.  The Syllabus will continue to be available on jump drive.

We will continue to offer substantially discounted ski passes at the registration desk.  This service makes purchase of ski passes accessible and flexible as it is available every day throughout the conference.
